Copper Mountain: Insider Secrets

Consider a locals Mountain, in the heart of the stunning Rocky Mountains, Colorado, USA, Copper Mountain is a snow lover’s paradise with everything you need for an ultimate ski experience. Check out some insider secrets for you next ski holiday to Copper

It’s named after a mineral

During the nineteenth century, mining took over in much of the region and a copper find gave the peak its name. Fast forward a few years to 1971 and to Chuck Lewis had a vision for a ski resort on Copper Mountain and purchased 280 acres at the base and began clearing trails that same year. A man of action!

There’s a run for everyone

Promoted for its naturally divided terrain, mother nature has naturally divided the terrain of Copper Mountain into different ski levels (very convenient) and resort designers strategically placed the kinds of accompanying services and features to match terrain ratings. So, you will find the Copper Ski & Ride school at the trails rated for beginners, while advanced skiers are closest to The Speed Centre.

Here you will find 140 runs for all abilities including bowls, steeps, cruisers and glades with easier runs on the west side, intermediate runs in the centre and expert terrain to the east.

Skiing the vast terrain

You don’t need wheels

With three pedestrian friendly villages to explore and a free in resort shuttle you won’t need a car as it’s so easy to get around!

Powder to the late risers!

You can still find powder on the front side of the mountain as Copper does a “noon groom” each day where they close one run off until noon. If it’s a powder day, you have a fresh stash to ski that no one else has been able to touch all morning, whether they got first chair or not.
