Lake Tarawera

Try your hand at jigging, trolling and fly fishing on the picturesque waters of Lake Tarawera , home to some of the largest rainbow trout to be found in New Zealand.

With a depth of over 50m, the cold, deep clear waters overlooked by Mount Tarawera provide an exciting trout habitat. Experience the best fishing spots from a boat or enjoy shore-based fishing around the western bays which are easily accessible by road. There is no other trout fishing experience quite like it.
